Why join our community?

What I noticed even before I walked the Camino, while I was still gathering information and attended my first American Pilgrims on the Camino conference, was the instant camaraderie, and how much I had in common with everyone. I felt at home, like never before, and it has continued. Having an interest in the Camino means that we are probably connected through our love of Spanish culture and language, being out in nature, spiritual/personal growth and great food.

Here we can share all of it and regain the sense of community we had for our 6 weeks or so. It doesn’t need to end and can keep enriching our lives.

I’ll be sharing my favorite photos along the Camino Frances, in 2013. As I post, I will also be sharing some reflections, interesting historical and religious stories, legends and issues, memories of my childhood in Puerto Rico and what drew my lifelong interest in the Camino, and observations of what it means to be a Pilgrim.

About Me

When I was six, my father, upon finishing a residency in orthopedics, moved our family with 4 small children to the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico. It was a magical childhood and I fell totally in love with the Spanish language, food, music, rich culture and history.

During my studies in Medieval Literature for a master’s in Spanish, I became enchanted with the ballads, stories and legends about the Camino de Santiago. I had a fantasy about going to Spain and searching for hints of where the ancient path had been and to try to retrace it.

As I repost my Camino, I will tell the story of how I finally achieved my lifelong dream, celebrating my 62nd birthday.
